Underappreciated anime: part 1

The Rapeman

I guess I’ve totally desecrated and proven myself a dishonorable man because I’ve been unable to write as much as I wanted to (as I had promised in my previous post). I have a lot of things I want to write, but they’re highly personal and most probably would be just reiterations of my quotidian trials and tribulations (and they’re just getting worse and worse anyway). But with the interest of rousing attention to under-the-radar anime titles, let me introduce an OVA: The Rapeman.

I’m not usually myself when in the #animeblogger channel, at least not my usually serious self in real-life. I metamorphose into a prankster of sorts, somewhat like Loki in Norse mythology. I do all kinds of unscrupulous things: recommending The Rapeman, however, is not one of them. First and foremost (and what may be behind every perceptive mind), yes, The Rapeman, as can be culled from its title, is not safe for work. In fact, it is even hentai (albeit censored). Why, then, do I go so far as to recommend this OVA?

It has achieved quite a few things in contrast to most adult anime titles out there. First is that it really tries to make the viewer laugh with its comical and over-the-top antics, and to be entirely honest, I didn’t think of this series as a hentai one: rather, I thought of it as a raunchy and adult comedy. The superfluous stunts of Rapeman helped in my confirmation of what it really was, at least for me.

Next would be the subbing of the show itself. The subbers had a lot of liberties with their subbing, but from what I can glean, the words still conveyed the same general meaning. The result, however, comes out to be more humorous. With the subgroup’s utilization of 4chan memes like WRYYYYYYYYYYYYYY, and words that possess double-entendres in them, like manly justice, farcical situations are made even more facetious, which intensifies the factor of enjoyment in the show.

The show is basically a parody of Batman; instead, however, of saving people from crime and penalizing the criminals, Rapeman rapes unscrupulous women (and only those hot and sexy ones) to exhort them to follow justice and the law. If the women don’t moan in a cocktail of pleasure and pain, he also has special moves up his sleeve to inflict maximum penetration: their names are so funny: one of them involves a Triangle Infinity Magnum .31!

My descriptions of the file may seem boring and bromidic, but I assure you that it’s a good watch, especially if you guys are fans of dark and more adult comedy. It’s among the few hentai that have made me laugh so hard at its absurdity, and not watch solely for the sex alone, which I appreciate.

I’d rather not post screenshots as this is, after all, a blog I aim to be safe for work, but it’s easily obtainable here (the link for the OVA is the very last link in the webpage).
